Privacy & Anonymity
Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our Traditions
Our Commitment to Anonymity
— Tradition Twelve
CEA-HOW is a fellowship built on trust. Every person who walks through our doors — whether in person, by phone, or online — deserves to do so with the assurance that their presence will remain confidential. We take this responsibility seriously.
CEA-HOW respects the privacy of all members and visitors to this website. We do not seek to identify who you are, track your behavior, or share your information with any outside party.
We hold ourselves to the traditional promise exchanged at every meeting:
Website Privacy Policy
What Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate this website and respond to your requests:
- Contact form submissions (name, email address, and message content)
- Meeting submission forms (meeting name, schedule, location, and contact information for the meeting secretary)
We do not collect any information unless you voluntarily provide it through one of these forms.
Cookies and Analytics
This website does not use tracking cookies or analytics tools that identify individual visitors. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any similar technology that builds a profile of your behavior across the web.
How We Use Your Information
- Email addresses provided through contact forms are used solely to respond to your inquiry. They are not added to mailing lists without your explicit consent.
- Meeting submission information is used solely to maintain the accuracy of our meeting directory.
We Do Not Sell or Share Member Data
No member information, visitor information, or contact form data is ever sold, rented, leased, or shared with any third party, advertiser, or organization outside of CEA-HOW.
Data Retention
Contact form submissions are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry. Meeting directory data is retained while the meeting remains active. You may request deletion of any information you have provided by contacting us at gso@ceahow.org.
Online Meeting Privacy
CEA-HOW holds many meetings via phone and video conferencing platforms. The following guidelines protect the anonymity and safety of all participants.
Screen Names and Identification
- Use your first name only when joining an online meeting — no last names, usernames, or handles that could identify you outside the fellowship.
- Profile photos or avatars are at your discretion; many members choose to keep their camera off or use a plain background.
No Recording Policy
- Meetings are not to be recorded without explicit group conscience approval.
- If a group decides by group conscience to record a meeting for a specific purpose (e.g., a qualifying speaker for a closed group), that decision must be communicated to all participants before the meeting begins, and no participant may be recorded without their knowledge.
Screenshot Policy
- Taking screenshots during any meeting — whether in person or online — is strictly prohibited.
- Sharing images, screenshots, or recordings from any CEA-HOW meeting on social media or elsewhere is a violation of the anonymity Traditions.
Third-Party Platforms
CEA-HOW meetings may take place on third-party platforms such as Zoom or FreeConferenceCall. Those platforms have their own privacy policies that govern data collected during the call. CEA-HOW does not control, and is not responsible for, the privacy practices of those platforms.

Social Media & Public Communications
— Tradition Eleven
Anonymity in Public
Members of CEA-HOW should not publicly identify themselves as members of the fellowship in any media — including print, radio, film, television, podcasts, or social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, or YouTube.
This Tradition protects both the individual member and the fellowship as a whole. It ensures that CEA-HOW's reputation is never placed in jeopardy by the behavior of any single person, however well-intentioned.
First Names Only
CEA-HOW Social Media Accounts
Any official CEA-HOW social media presence is maintained at the level of the organization, not of individual members. Statements made on official CEA-HOW accounts reflect the group conscience and do not identify individual members.
